New Exhibits in 2019!

Standard Oil Station

One of the new exhibits on display in 2019, a recreation of a Standard Oil Service Station in Lansing, MI The artists, Ron and April Gill, in front of one of the new exhibits on display in 2019, a recreation of a Standard Oil Service Station in Lansing, MI

The newest exhibit at Midwest Miniatures Museum is a vintage-style service station, made by fabulous miniatures artisans Ron and April Gill of Wildwood Dollhouse in DeWitt, Michigan. This is a recreation of a late-1920 - early-1930's Art Deco Standard Oil of Indiana service station. Two common features of these buildings were glazed bricks, usually white, and half-round red clay tiles. Similar stations could be found all across Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan.

Located in Lansing, Michigan (at the corner of Washington Ave. and West Elm St.), the station was operational until the late-60's - early-70's. The building has also been used as a carburetor shop and a used car store and is soon to reopen once again as a Mexican restaurant.

This miniature rendition represents how it may have looked in the 1950's.

Thank you to Ron Gill for providing this description.

Criss Goad Dollhouse

Criss Goad was one of the founders of the museum under the National Miniatures Trust. She created this beautiful, detailed yellow dollhouse. Also on display are two roomboxes created by her and her husband, Tom Goad.

Tribute to Maryella Williams

The temporary showcase this year is devoted to the work of the late Maryella Williams, former owner of Maryella's Minikins, a miniatures store once located on Parkview Avenue in Kalamazoo.

Thank you to the Mini-Fingers Club of Kalamazoo for their work in creating this tribute.
